Let it not be said of me that I was a good man,
But that I was changed by the Spirit of a Holy God.
Let it not be said of me that I was a faithful man,
But that I was convicted by the love of Christ.
Let it not be said of me that I was a blessing to others,
But that God blessed me with a life of service.
Let it not be said of me that I was a prosperous man,
But that I was made rich by the loving family God gave me.
Let it not be said of me that I was a wise man,
But that I was confounded by the foolishness of God.
Let it not be said that I was a scholar,
But that I was in desperate need of God's wisdom and truth.
Let it not be said of me that I was an honorable man
But that my life brought honor to the name of Jesus.
And let it not be said of me that I accomplished great things,
But that I was compelled by the Glory of God and Gospel of Christ.
Rather, let those I have left behind
know the grace I knew,
and love the God who first loved me.
